Get Your MAC On

Last week, MAC did a live chat with Eve and her personal makeup artist, JJ. There were countless blogs that posted the conversation. Here's what I got out of it that stood out the most:

  1. Golden Bronze Loose Powder..gets you that fresh, glowy highlight. Use powder brush 150 when applying.

  2. JJ's favorite brushes: 252 & 224

  3. Bang on Blue..great eyeshadow, mix with electric eel for a royal blue treat!

  4. On the daily: Smoulder eye pencil & Golden Bronze Powder

  5. Mascara application: Fibre Rich Mascara and then apply Mascara X for thickening & lengthening lashes

  6. Favorite lip gloss of the collection: She-Boom lipgelee

  7. Best lashes: #7

  8. Face & Body Tint..uses at night for the deifinite dewy, flawless look. Apply with fingers or a sponge

  9. Perfect nude lip pencil: Subculture

Until next time pretty chicas!

Set the Foundation

During this time of year, my skin color changes. It gets darker of course and my foundation is not the perfect wintery shade I've been using pretty much up until now. Below, I've listed a few brands of foundation with the first 2 being the ones I frequently use:
  • Mary Kay Medium Coverage Foundation Shade 500
  • Ben Nye Loose Powder in Sienna

Top 3 to try:

  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
  • Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation
  • MAC Face & Body

So I've made it a point that's long overdue to go out and try some new foundations to see what other coverages will work best! Also, I've heard a lot about foundation primer and wondering if there's really a difference using that? Does primer lift shine or should a matte foundation be used? For those of you out there, please feel free to leave a comment with your favorite brand(s) of foundation!

Ciao Bellas!

The Weekend

Well the weekend was a great one! I went out to dinner yesterday afternoon with a homegirl who loves makeup just like me self! P.F. Chang's China Bistro was the spot we decided to hit up and it was d-lish! The crab wontons were our choice for the appetizer. Following came our entrees' in which she had the Seseme Chicken and I, the Eggplant with a spicy, garlic sauce. Both dishes came with either white or brown rice so we opted for the brown! Just trying to keep it on the healthy side and it was a splendid choice indeed! :) Although the meals were light and just perfect we did decide to be bad and order the Banana Spring Rolls for dessert! This dessert is becoming a staple for me to get when I go to this restaurant. Can't seem to leave without having this to finish off my visit! You will love it! It comes with six warm crispy bites filled with firm, warm, bananas, a scoop of this amazing coconut pineapple ice cream, and drizzled with caramel and vanilla sauces-absolutley divine! When you go, you'll have to try it girl!!

After letting our food digest, we finally headed to the mall that's pretty much across the street from the restaurant. We were on the hunt for some summer frangrances. Our first stop was Nordstrom where we hung out at the Laura Mercier counter for about 15 minutes. The girl whom I was with works for Laura and I knew this line was nice but I finally took the time out to see why! The eyeshadows have wonderful pigment although they are $20-which isn't too bad; however, I may pick up one every now and then. What stood out to me though was her Vanille Gourmande frangrance that you'll find in their Body & Bath section of the line. I think what makes it differ from other vanilla frangrances on the market is its infusion of vanilla liqueur, heliotrope, daylily, bourbon vanilla, sandalwood, amber, and other captivating essences. Hmm..yes, smells good enough to eat!

After leaving Nordstrom, we made a stop over to the lovely Sephora. All I can say is OMG! Have you smelled Narcisco Rodriguez!?!?! This frangrance is oh so delicious! Ok, I know this scent has been out for a while and I believe I first came across it while running through Bloomingdale's. You know how they try and flag you down to smell & sample everything-yeah! Anywho, if you haven't added this to your personal collection, do so immediately! It's also available in a musc and an oil! Um can we say how womanly, head turning, and stop a man in his tracks you'll be on a summer evening as you stroll through the town? I promise you everyone will want to know what you're wearing. Yes, it's like that! Go, get, & spray it girl!!!

Oh, I don't want to forget these few notables I scooped up at The MAC Store: Nail lacquer in Lovin' Pink, and eyeshadows in Paradisco, a light peachy color that you could use for bronzing the cheeks as well, and Tempting, which has a rich gold flava that goes with just about everything this summer. http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Until next time, Enjoy!

Greetings

Welcome to GET IT GIRL BEAUTY! G.I.G.B. will provide you with the latest on the current beauty trends, product reviews & deals, and makeup application tips! I'll throw in a little something something regarding food from time to time, i.e. restaurant faves, recipes, and what I'm eating or have come across! Simply because I like to look good and eat-who doesn't!?!

I'm so excited! After reading countless blogs that I've fallen in love with, I've decided to start my own! My name is Stephanie. I'm originally from Chicago; however, I've been residing in Atlanta, GA for the past 7 years. My background includes modeling, being a licensed esthetician, makeup artistry, and unfortunately corporate america. Yes..I've been doing office administration work off and on since as early as 1998! I've recently made the decision to channel my energies into what I am most passionate about-makeup artistry! I've been into makeup since I can remember and for some reason always shyed away when I thought of it as a career move. I guess I was a little nervous or 'scurred'. Not anymore! I'm doing what I love in my spare time which will turn into all the time very soon! Enough about me! Get ready to look your best! Stayed tuned for my first entry because here is where you'll be in the know as you GET IT GIRL!
